This game hasn't gotten the nickname of Grind Wars for nothing. If you really wanted to play a game where skill was more important than time spent, you're about a year and a half late.

I'm not sure that reducing the first title would help... but I do think the title should be easier to get.
I really don't see why everyone wants the title to stay exactly as it is. Sunspear and Lightbringer are now pretty easy to max. It just takes a few days of farming. Even with the Blessings, it still takes AGES to progress on this title. As someone said, you get like 2-5k for vanquishing an area. I don't really consider that much. Especially if you think about the time involved.

Have you looked at the new skills? =P
OT: While it does make sense story-wise, I think you should have to put in at least a little bit of work to earn these titles. FFFFTW!

I agree with you. The new Ele skill, for example, is just insane! Especially if you get a high enough title to maintain the enchantment. With Glyph of Elemental Power, you could keep an attribute at 20 (which is the max, anyway) pretty much all the time.
The Mesmer skill is pretty wicked as well, at higher levels. Imagine 7+ health degen (the stats for the skills are only listed for rank 0 to rank 10, right? that means you could have more than 7 degen if at max rank) to a bunch of foes...
These skills aren't NEEDED. They just greatly tilt the balance in favor of those that have them. I'm kind of disappointed with the ranger Factions skill, myself... But I suppose it could be very useful with Kindle Arrow.

saying that WoW and EQ2 are more grind doesn't exactly prove GW is not about grind. It just proves WoW and EQ2 are about grind even more. It's like saying someone who lives on four dollars a day is not poor because there are people living on one dollar a day.
You don't really need the skills. It's just impossible to die without them

So you won't be as uber as the savior of the kurzicks in using that one skill, but we've been playing this game for 2 years without those skills and doing fine. Plus, not many people can use those luxon/kurzick skills to great effect, so it wouldn't make that big of a difference.

lol, the new ele skill with the SS ele skill is high damage. Course your typical SF/MS fire nukers build and this leaves no room for anything else. You'll kill like crazy and die as soon as someone looks at you funny.
And the mesmer one? 7+ health degen? SF does that and kills things. Virulence gives 8 degen, 4 of which spreads to nearly all enemies and weakness to stop them pounding your face in.
They are nice to have, and if you got the title then play around with them. But if you don't, it's not like you need to spend the next few months farming up like 10 mil faction.

Comparisons with SS and LB aren't really valid, those two title tracks are character and not account based, as the kurzick/luxon title is.
In addition you now get faction for killing anything while under a blessing in Cantha next to the quests, repeatable quests, alliance battles and aspendwood etc.
As for the above comment of spending 6 months as a full time job getting the first tier, are you sure you're playing the same game as the rest of us?
